Clark SD- June 21, 1989
Roy William Heiden, 89, a long time farmer in Clark County
died on June 19 at a local nursing home following an
extended illness. Funeral services will be today
(Wednesday) at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church.
Rev. James Persons will officiate. Burial will be held at
Rose Hill Cemetery in Clark. David Warkenthien, Diane
Wookey and Janet Hallberg will present special music with
Sylvia Anderson at the organ.
Roy Heiden was born on July 31, 1899 at Maringo, Iowa
to Henry and Elizabeth (Zimmerman) Heiden. After moving to
Clark County, he farmed in Darlington, Mt. Pleasant and
Garfield Townships. He retired to Clark in 1969.
He married Thonata (Nettie) Olson on June 22, 1923. She
died on May 8, 1965. On June 14, 1966 he married Edith
Dekker at Clark. She died December 1, 1977.
He is survived by a son, Darrel of Clark; two daughters,
Mrs. Allen (Roberta) Smith and Mrs. Leo (Velma) Bachman,
both of Clark; one stepson, Clifford Dekker and one step
daughter, Mrs. Everett (Erlene) Hanson both of Clark; 10
grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, six step
grandchildren and 10 step great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, one
step grandson, a brother, Lloyd and two sisters, Pearl and
Mildred.
The casket bearers are Jerry Bachman, Jim Somers, Neil
Heiden, Marlon Heiden, David Heiden, Glenn Smith and Gail
Smith.
